iRhythm Technologies's Zio XT patch is a prime example of digital health technology put to good use. The chest-worn device can record a patient’s heart rhythm continuously for up to two weeks, after which the company provides the patient’s physician with a report of the findings to help them diagnose an arrhythmia and recommend treatment.

In October, the San Francisco-based company raise $107 million in an IPO and saw its stock climb more than 50% on its opening day.
